Holiday Poodles

Poodles
I have not owned a Poodle myself. However I find them the most interesting to create in miniature. I'm not sure if it's their fancy cuts giving me a chance to experiment with many types of fibers and make fancy bows... or if it's just the beautiful expressive faces these very intelligent dogs have. Regardless the reason I love making them and placing them in many types of settings. Here of course I am able to use the holiday tree in the setting with the wonderful snowy hillside in the background really setting them off.

Cairn Terrier

I never realized when I was given this little doll what fun I would have making her playmates. Here is one of my favorite playmates in life and to make ... a Cairn terrier. I love using some of my real Cairn terrier's fur to add realism to the mini Cairn. This is one of the mini dogs I have kept in my own collection.

Dog Love

This dog embodies dog love for me. My darling Old Ted. Missed everyday. He gave me the inspiration that lives on in my artwork today.

Pekingese

Lovely Pekingese made with real dog fur. This dog was going to be a English Bulldog... somehow a Pekingese is what came of it. Have a wonderful dog groomer in my town that is happy to supply me with some of the finest cleanest dog fur to use on just such a piece. Working with real dog fur is a incredible challenge! I am really happy with the realism it offers the artwork though ... so I continue to work on perfecting that skill. My customers often what their own dogs fur added to a portrait dog so well worth my work to give them their own dog .. with their own dogs fur. I myself have my beloved Ted created with his fur.

Borzoi

This wonderful dog is taking a trip to Italy next month to pose with a number of fashion dolls. Quite the honor to be in the new Italian Fashion doll magazine ( My Muse ). I am a little apprehensive about sending him all that way. He won't be going alone however... two Shih Tzu will be accompanying him. Stay tuned for pictures of him when the magazine comes out in March 2012.

Poodle

One of my favorite pieces. This Standard Poodle in white is a very special creation. The soulful expressive face on this dog takes many hours to capture perfectly. I hope I have done just that!

Rufus

Here is Rufus! The first in a series of dogs that will be posed with dolls of children. I intend to capture this sweet face many times.

Gizmo

Here is Gizmo posed with his mini Giz. What a darling boy he was. He left his owners too soon as many of our beloved pets do. I was happy to be able to recreate him for his owner giving her a reminder in a physical form. She travels with the mini Giz by her side.
